Introducing Your New Favourite Coffee Scrub from Will & Co and Bondi Wash

One of the many things that makes Bondi special is its tight-knit community of like-minded people and businesses, including those who love innovation and collaboration as much as we do. Working on any collaborative project is a treat for us, but to do so with another local Bondi business is icing on the cake. That’s why we were stoked when the opportunity to collab with Bondi Wash came to be. 

Not only did the product itself excite us – we were also keen to partner with a business whose values and ethos aligned so closely to our own. Like us, Bondi Wash was born in Bondi in 2013, embraces the area’s laidback coastal lifestyle, values its customers above all else and is committed to sourcing sustainable ingredients of the highest quality. Ten years into our respective journeys, we’re stoked to announce our first collaboration: a limited-edition coffee body scrub. 

Here’s everything you need to know about your new favourite skin care product – including a Q&A with the incredible founder of Bondi Wash, Belinda Everingham. 

How this Coffee Scrub Works Wonders for Your Skin 

We have no doubt you’ll fall in love with this coffee scrub – and for good reason. The Will & Co x Bondi Wash Coffee Scrub is made using our Goofy Specialty blend, which features delicately balanced notes of sweet florals and roasted peanut with a hint of lemon. Not only that, but the coffee grounds are enriched with native Australian wattleseed oil, known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory qualities. 

Together, the coffee and wattleseed extracts work wonders, leaving your skin feeling as smooth as can be. The course grounds buff away dead skin cells, encouraging lymphatic drainage and reducing the appearance of cellulite, while the wattleseed boosts skin renewal and brightens and evens your skin tone through its naturally occurring active ingredient, gallic acid. Better yet, the scrub is 100 per cent plant-based and leaves you with a rich, nutty, slightly floral fragrance that is absolutely divine. 

Collaborating with Like-Minded Brands 

At Will & Co, we’re drawn to organisations and businesses that embody the Bondi ethos, and Bondi Wash does exactly that. The brand is recognised globally for its beautiful home, body, baby and dog products made with unique Australian scents and ingredients. What started as a small line of three products and scents has since grown to include over 40 different products and 11 natural scents – talk about incredible. 

We also admire – and share – Bondi Wash’s commitment to quality, sustainability and integrity in design, so we jumped at the opportunity when Belinda, founder of Bondi Wash, showed interest in collaborating on an exfoliating coffee scrub collab. 

“Bondi Wash customers have been asking for an exfoliating scrub for years – it’s a natural extension of our Body Range,” she noted. “Coffee is completely natural and biodegradable, which makes it an ideal ingredient for our range. But since it was a new element for us, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to collaborate with a [coffee] specialist.” 

“As a local brand sharing our values of quality, natural living, and community, Will & Co were the perfect fit,” Belinda shared. And quite frankly, we felt the same way. 

A Look Behind the Scenes of the Coffee Scrub with Bondi Wash founder, Belinda Everingham 

Q: How did you land on the decision to use wattleseed in the coffee scrub? 

Belinda: We worked with our cosmetic chemist to experiment and see how the coffee blended with different Australian botanicals and active ingredients. After a lot of testing, we found that wattleseed oil was the most effective for nourishing the skin. Wattleseed is rich in gallic acid, a powerful antioxidant that works to brighten and even skin tone by gently penetrating the top layers of the skin. 

Q: Did you experience any challenges or surprises during the development? 

B: We were surprised at how good the product smelt! Typically, we use Australian essential oils in Bondi Wash products to make them beautifully fragrant. However, we found that the woody and nutty aroma of Will & Co’s coffee was beautiful enough to stand on its own. 

Q: What unique qualities does the Goofy blend contribute? 

B: Coffee is a well-known manual exfoliant. The coarseness of the grounds gently buff away dead skin cells to reveal healthy and smooth skin. We’re delighted to use Will & Co’s coffee, which is high-quality and sourced sustainably from healthy soils. The Goofy blend brings a more delicate fragrance, providing slightly sweet, floral and nutty notes to compliment the earthiness of the coffee.  

Q: What makes this coffee scrub stand out from other products available in the market? 

B: Besides the high-grade, natural ingredients, the coffee and wattleseed blend is what makes this scrub unique – and effective. The antioxidant rich, grainy coffee is beautifully complimented by the nourishing and soothing qualities of wattleseed. It’s also gentle enough for all skin types, including sensitive skin. 

It was such a creative project to work on, a little bit out of our comfort zone, but I hope people embrace such an authentically Australian collab. Both coffee and wattleseed are two plants that Australians love and cherish. Launching as part of our 10th birthday celebrations, it’s ultimately a nod to the local community that has supported both our brands since the early days.
