Will & Co is built on mateship, born when three lifelong mates set out to combine Australia’s coastal lifestyle and thriving cafe culture. While mateship is about enjoying life’s highs, it’s also about being there for others when times get tough. In light of this, Will & Co has partnered with non-profit surf community OneWave, to support their life-changing mission of raising mental health awareness with a simple recipe: saltwater therapy, surfing and fluro.
In 2013, Grant Trebilco held his first Fluro Friday at Bondi Beach, encouraging a bunch of mates to come together to surf and share personal stories in an “anti-bad vibes” environment – all while wearing bright colours to start conversations about an invisible issue. Ten years on, Fluro Fridays are held across 200 beaches in 50 countries, and OneWave runs programs in schools and workplaces, having impacted more than 30,000 people – and counting.
In partnering with OneWave, Will & Co is proud to help bring the organisation’s Free the Funk program to local Bondi schools, which will provide young people with tips and tools they can carry through life, to help keep their heads – and their mates’ heads – in tip-top shape.
On Friday March 24, OneWave is throwing a global 10th birthday bash. From New Zealand to Norway, communities will don their brightest fluro fits to remind mates and strangers they’re not alone in their mental health battles.
Locally in Bondi, the goal is to create a fluro wave spanning the length of Bondi Beach. All are welcome to join the fun including a 440 fun run at 6am, followed by a Bondi Salties swim, mental health talks, the fluro wave at 7am, and salt therapy to finish. Feel free to swing by when you can – just meet on the beach in front of the Bondi Pavilion to join in on the action.
Will & Co will provide free fuel in the form of cold brew and batch brew, so don’t stress if early mornings aren’t your thing! For those keen to make a full day of it, there’s also an after party at Hotel Revises, starting at 5pm.
In celebration of OneWave’s 10th birthday, we’re donating 10% of online sales for 10 days, from March 15-24. Additionally, on the big day (March 24), we’ll donate 100% of sales from the Will & Co HQ Tasting Bar, located on the corner of Beach Road & Gould Street, to OneWave.
